Optical semiconductors

October 18th, 2016

The training of specialists in the field of fiber-optic communication lines involves the study of such difficult topics as “Light-emitting diode (LED)” and “Semiconductor Lasers” (Zvelto, 1990). Clarification of the physical foundations of these devices requires the use of educational information which is studied in the course of quantum chemistry. Read the rest of this entry »

Rectilinear uniform motion

January 5th, 2012

Given that the trajectory of a material point (MP) motion is a straight line, the motion is called “a rectilinear motion”. The rectilinear motion can be described by the one-dimensional coordinate system. Let us suppose that at time 0 s MP was at the beginning of motion, at time t_0 s MP was at the point with coordinate x_0, and at time t MP was at the point with coordinate x.

Then the position of the MP at time t_0 is characterized by radius – vector \vec r_0, MP position at time t is characterized by the radius – vector \vec r (Fig. 1).

The main task of mechanics

January 3rd, 2012

The main task of mechanics consists of a definition of a mathematical kind of dependence of the body position from time:

my_site_kinematics_8

The task solution is possible with a definition of the frame of reference, which consists of a body of reference with an associated coordinate system, and of an

Bernoulli’s principle

January 2nd, 2012

The law of conservation of mechanical energy for liquids and gases is a special kind formulated by Bernoulli. Let’s consider the conclusion of the law on the example of an ideal incompressible fluid. The ideal liquid is such liquid in which the internal friction can be ignored,  Read the rest of this entry »

Mechanical energy

January 1st, 2012

Energy is one of the concepts in physics, for which there exists no definition, i.e., undefined concept. We can feel the energy released in the form of heat when a conductor passes a current, we can estimate the reserve of the potential energy of the ball above the Earth’s surface according to the magnitude of its deformation after impact on the surface, etc.

Yet the energy concept is an intuitive concept. Read the rest of this entry »

Solution of task using graph

December 29th, 2011

The process of solving the problem is a type of mental activity, so to successfully meet the challenges need to be clear about the logical relationships between the physical quantities. To build a system of logical connections let’s consider a mathematical object that has the name of a graph.

Forces addition

December 26th, 2011

The dynamics equations are based on the determination of the causes of body movements and their impact on the type of movement. Dynamic equations are the solution to the basic problems of mechanics, but these solutions are expressed using dynamic variables: force, energy, and momentum.

Fiber-optic current sensor

December 26th, 2011

In the electric power industry and the electrochemical industry is the measurement problem of strong currents of a few hundred kA. The company  ABB  has developed for this purpose the Fiber-Optic Current Sensor (FOCS).
